October 27 Meeting
Our speaker was David Pullman, Counselor at EVIT (East Valley Institute of Technology). David shared information about various programs and opportunities provided at EVIT to assist young people with education to aid with their career goals. EVIT offers a wide range of opportunities which benefit young people whether they plan to move forward into college, or directly into the work force. Jeffrey Mitchell updated Club members with results of the 'Cases for a Cause' service project - a project which had Club members collecting suitcases and backpacks to assist Camelback Crossroads Rotary Club - https://www.cxrrotaryclub.org/projects-partnerships . A significant amount of luggage was collected by Club members. Jeffrey also brought Club members up to date on a number of the community service projects which the Club is formulating plans to participate in over the next few months - such as holiday bell ringing, Angel tree gifts, the annual charity golf tournament, Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo, Lost Dutchman Marathon -- and others.October 13 Meeting
Our Speaker was Tony Cerato, speaking about 'Peace Fellowships'. Each year, the Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 80 for certificate studies at premier universities. Since the program began in 2002, Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,400 fellows who now work in more than 115 countries. Our speaker was Brigadier General (ret) Tom Webster - Close Air Support, U.S. Air Force, NY Air National Guard. General Webster gave an informative and entertaining presentation about his time being active in the military and the Close Air Support (CAC) program.
