GUESTS AND VISITORS
We had 3 visiting Rotarians today - John Millard, Bill Ohe and Carl Simonson.  Kailia Lavato who is sponsored by our club through the Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona was our guest as was our speaker for the day - Tanya Hughes from SRP.
ANNOUNCMENTS AND CLUB BUSINESS
1. President Ed Shockley introduced Kailia Lavato, a student who was granted a college scholarship by the Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona.  Our club is her sponsor.
She is enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program at East Valley Medical College in Gilbert.  The RVFA is a program to help ambitious people better their earning potential through vocational education. Last year we sponsored another local student - Rosita Raby - through the same certified nursing assistant program.
2. The club is interested in providing school supplies for Peralta Trail Elementary School.  If you would like to help, talk to President Ed.
3. The drawing was worth $360 today.  Dean Holmes won the drawing and $10 but missed the joker.

SPEAKER
Our speaker today was Tanya Hughes from SRP on the topic "Save with SRP".  Tanya is a 2002 graduate from ASU who has been with SRP for 6 years in the area of energy- and water-saving education.
LED lights - available for every kind of use in your home or business.  Look for SRP discounted bulbs at Home Depot, Costco, Sam's Club and WalMart.
Water Heater Timer - No sense heating water if you are not in the house to use it. See savewithSRP.com.
Air Filters - midgrade pleated filters are the best to use. She recommends changing them monthly.
Shade Screens - can cut your cooling costs by up to 25% by shading sun-exposed windows. SRP-approved contractors give a reduced rate for screens.
Shade Trees - SRP is giving customers two free desert-adapted shade trees for your home.
Programmable Thermostats - these can save up to $180 annually if properly used.  Newer models offer remote access control from your cell phone.  There is an SRP rebate on them.
New ACs - SRP offers a rebate for installation of the new super efficient AC units.

Tanya also talked briefly about ways to save on water usage.  She mentioned water-efficient faucets, water-efficient showerheads, high-efficiency toilets and high-efficiency kitchen and laundry room appliances.
