We had a very productive Club Assembly. Several business items were discussed, including the nomination of a President-Elect, the upcoming revision of our constitution to align with the newly revised standard constitution, and shortening the Club's name from 'Rotary Club of Superstition Mountain, Apache Junction and Gold Canyon' to 'Rotary Club of Superstition Mountain'. Club committees met briefly and reported on their discussion items and resulting action items.

Dodie mentioned several upcoming events:
-- the agenda on October 8 will be a strategic planning session, which all members are urged to attend.
-- the casino night fundraiser is on November 5
-- The Walk to end Alzheimer's is on November 8

Kayla Fulmer, Marketing and Communications Director for the City of Apache Junction, provided us with updates about many of the issues and events within Apache Junction that were of interest to the group.

Also speaking was Kristi Martinez, President, and Jill Bright, representing the Apache Junction Basketball Booster Club. The Booster Club is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization focused on helping support the Apache Junction High School's basketball program. The organization focuses on providing financial support for youth who would not otherwise be able to participate in the sports program. Attending with Kristi and Jill was Apache Junction High School Basketball Coach, Seth Jardin.
