Tickets are now available for our second annual Barleens event, on March 21, 2020! The cost will be $62 per person, $25 of which will be going to the Rotary Foundation. The entire theater is currently reserved for the club until two weeks before the event, when any unsold tickets will go back to Barleens. All promotions will be through the district, at no cost to the club. Harvey is working with Dr. Anderson to get the Apache Junction high school band to play at the event, for a donation of $500. It was moved, seconded and approved to put the event on the district calendar. A table for eight can be reserved at a sponsorship rate of $500. You can purchase tickets directly from Harvey Clark, or through eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/superstition-mountain-rotary-fundraiser-barleens-tickets-68658065121

Our September 11 meeting will not be at our usual location. Instead, we will be having lunch at Apache Junction High School, with lunch being prepared by the head chef and culinary class. This will be our chance to see the desperate need for the capital improvements bond issue. The high school is located at 2525 S. Ironwood Drive. Parking is on the north side of the building. The cost is $10 per attendee, and the club will write one check for all attending. If you haven't already gotten your name on the sign-up sheet at the regular meeting, contact Ed Shockley. Ed's email address is dadshock@yahoo.com.

Club President, Bob Benjamin, presented a check for $4,000 to the Apache Junction Unified School District "Feed the Children" program. The program provides food to disadvantaged children during school breaks. Dr. Krista L. Anderson, AJUSD Superintendent and Karen Warhus, Food Service Director are in the process of starting up a summer food program, which will provide free breakfast and lunch to anyone under the age of 19.
