ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CLUB BUSINESS

 

1. Bill Burrows brought us the news.

2. Larry Johnson reminded the club that the memorial service for Laurie Armstrong will be held on Monday, March 17 at 5:30 PM at Mountainview Lutheran Church near the intersection of Old West Hwy and Goldfield Rd. in Apache Junction.  A memorial fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank that will support the activities of the Boys and Girls Club where Laurie was the executive.

3. Len announced that Kevin Mulligan and his wife Karen will be treating the club to a salmon/halibut fish fry on Saturday, April 5, 2014.  The event will be held at the home of Jack and Vicki Beveridge at 6560 E. Flatiron Loop inside the Superstition Mountain Country Club.  The event starts at 5 PM.  Cost is $25 per person to benefit the club.  Bring your own beverage.  There is a limit of 50 people and 40 have signed up so far.

4. Ron Knies reported that the LDD beer sales netted $8,900 plus $2,000 in tips. 

5. Murray Hiatt announced the Mountain Chordsmen concert "With a Song in My Heart" on Sunday, March 23 at 3 PM at Leisure World's Rec Center #2.  Tickets are $10.  For tickets, call Murray at 480-671-7284.

6. Jay Jones congratulated incoming President Bryant Powell for completing the PETS workshop.

7. Ben Fellows presented Nancy Burgess of the AJ Food Bank with a check for $1,000 from our club.  Ben and Tracey Yamamoto volunteer often at the Food Bank.

8. Len presented new member Rod Luker with his Rotary pin and new member packet.  Welcome Rod!

9. Len reported that the club received thank you notes from the wife of the MCSO Posse member who was shot.  The club donated $350 to that family.  We also received a thank you note from Sheriff Arpaio.

10 Jim Rigby won the drawing and $10 but drew the 5 of spades so the pot continues to grow.
